We are now in our second
year of feeding steers in the National Hereford Feedout Program formerly known as the Genetic Outreach Program.
The steers are fed at Royal Beef Feedlot in Scott City, Kansas. Last years steers fed in the Winter 2008 group did very
well for us and the results are posted below. All steers in this group were out of our 431 bull that is for sale. | 08 Rankings | Peformance Catagory | Result | | 2nd | Average Daily Gain | 4.19 | | 2nd | Carcass Weight | 880.8 | | 4th | Ribeye Area | 13.48 | | 6th | Marbling | 5.02 | | 7th | Fat Thickness | .45 |
These rankings
represent 16 different breeders that fed a total of 212 head. Our steers were only 15 to 16 months old when harvested and had a average payweight (4% shrink) of 1,410 lbs. The ultra sound, performance and harvest data we are collecting is very
valuable to our genetic progress. ML Cattle is committed to producing cattle that adds value and produces the results
our customers expect in real world production. Below are pictures
of a few of our steers after about 30 days on feed.
